Hello. I’m Jerry Greiner. I am here to talk to you about the enrollment process for attending Maysville Community and Technical College.  The enrollment process is divided into five steps and I will briefly go through all five. Step number one is you need to apply for admissions. The way we prefer you to do that is online and our online address is www.maysville.kctcs.edu. The sooner you do the application the better off for you.  The second step is getting your credentials turned into us. Credentials can include your high school transcript, GED scores, and/or other college transcripts.  Those documents must be sent to the Registrar’s office and they must be in our hands prior to you being put into any classes. So make sure you contact the appropriate institutions and they must be sent by snail mail, prior to you being registered.  The third step you need to be taking is completing your Federal Financial Aid Application you do that online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. School code is 006960. The sooner you apply the better chance you have of getting financial aid.  January 1 is the beginning of the financial aid season for classes starting the Fall semester. So you need to get that taken care of as soon as possible, our financial aid office will be in contact with you giving you additional information on what you need to complete to get your financial aid set up. Fourth step is all students need take the COMPASS Test, that’s a test of math, writing and reading. It is not a pass/fail test, it is a test to measure your abilities in those three subject matters and that will determine how many of our ten high school refresher courses you might have to take. So come prepared to do the best you can on this COMPASS test and you will need to be in contact with the COMPASS testing office at your campus to set up that appointment. And the last thing you will do in this process is be advised. All new students start in Master Advising. Master Advising has our best advisors and they are there to help new students get started off on the right foot. They will help you select your classes each semester, answer other questions you have about attending here and will be your advisor until they pass you along to a Major Advisor.
