You may be enrolled in a course in which the instructor requires you to upload papers or other types of files for a grade. Be sure to check the syllabus for instructions on where your instructor would like you to upload assignments.
Assignments can typically be found through a link named Assignments, or a similar name. Look for this type of link, and click on it with your mouse. The Assignments link takes you to a page which may or may not include links to upload your assignments.
In this example, we have been directed to the Assignments page for a course that contains an essay assignment called Essay 1. The instructions for how to complete the assignment are shown.
To upload your completed assignment, use your mouse to select the link of the assignment title. You will be taken to the Upload Assignment page for the assignment.
Notice the assignment information area on this page. The name of the assignment, instructions, due date, and points possible will be displayed.
Depending upon the instructions provided by your instructor, you may submit your assignment in different ways. You may be permitted to type or paste your work into the Submission area textbox shown here.
If your instructor requires you to upload a file for the assignment, such as a Word document, you will need to use your mouse to select the Browse My Computer Button shown here in the Attach File area.
Clicking on this button will allow you to browse for the location on your computer where you have saved the file for your assignment. Once you have located your file, use your mouse to select the Open button.
Your file will now be displayed in the Attached files area of the upload assignment page, as shown here. If you made a mistake, and do not wish to attach the file displayed, use your mouse to select the Do Not Attach link, which will remove the uploaded file.
If the file you have uploaded is correct, you may move on to the next step. The Comments area contains a text box where you may type any comments about your assignment you would like to share with your instructor. Note, however, that this textbox is intended for comments only, and is not the appropriate place to include content for your actual assignment.
When you are ready to submit your assignment, you may do so by using your mouse to select the Submit button shown here. You should be aware that in most cases, you will only be permitted to submit an assignment once. Clicking the submit button may close the assignment, preventing you from accessing it again. Check your syllabus or contact your instructor to find out whether or not multiple attempts are allowed for assignments in your course.
It is also possible to save your progress on the assignment and submit it later by selecting the Save as Draft button with your mouse shown here. Clicking on this button will take you to the Review Submission History page for the assignment, and a message indicating that your progress has been saved will be displayed.
You may continue your progress on the assignment by selecting the Continue Current Submission button with your mouse.
You may also select the OK button with your mouse, to close the assignment and return to the Assignments page of your course. However, It is important that you realize your assignments will not be received by your instructor until you finally submit them by selecting the submit button from the upload assignments page.
You will be directed to the Review Submission History page once you have submitted your assignment, and a message indicating that your assignment has been completed will be displayed.
