How to Complete an Online Test. Online exams or tests are typically accessible from content pages in a course. Refer to your instructor's directions for taking the test, since tests can be set up in different ways. Once you have logged into Blackboard and entered a course, you may notice a link to a test on the Announcements page, or under the heading Assignments, or perhaps within other locations in the course. If you are having trouble locating a test, check with your instructor to find out how he or she has posted the test online. When you have located the link for an online test for a course you are taking, use your mouse to select the link for the test. You will be directed to a new page that will display the instructions for the test, and you may begin the test by selecting the Begin button with your mouse. It is very important to realize that once you click Begin, your attempt at the test is recorded in the instructor's online grade center. Even if you do not submit the test, its status will be shown as
“In Progress” until you or the instructor submits it to completion. Also, if the test has a timer, the timer starts as soon as you click Begin. Warning: Do not use your browser's Back button during a test. You risk losing answers. In some cases, you may be unable to return to the test. Always carefully read the Instructions at the top to understand how the test works, including any timer and when the test must be completed. Some tests may only allow one attempt. Force Completion means you cannot revisit an attempt later. If the test is timed, a timer appears below the Instructions area and in the browser's title bar. There is a Save Answer button for each question. Get into the habit of clicking Save Answer after choosing your response to each question. If you change your response, click Save Answer to update the change. If you click Save Answer without responding to the question, the question will not be marked as saved. Test questions may appear in two different ways. The test may be presented with all questions on one page, or one question per page. The Test and Survey Status feature provides users with a quick up-to-date look at their progress during a test, including elapsed time, and saved or unsaved questions. Here is an example of a test in which one question is presented at a time. Use the Navigation buttons to jump forward or backward in the test. You can also use the Question Completion Status area to click on specific questions to go to. Note that if your instructor has prohibited backtracking, you cannot jump ahead nor return to questions you have already answered. In this case, only the Next Arrow button appears, and the question numbers in the Question Completion Status area will not be clickable. When you are finished taking a test, use your mouse to select the Save and Submit button. This completes the test, and what you see next depends on how the instructor has set up the test. You may not see any feedback right away, or you may see just the score. After you complete some tests, you may get detailed feedback regarding your responses. We hope that this video has been informative, and helpful to you as a student of Maysville Community and Technical College.
