Project BEAM is funded through a grant to Somerset Community College by the Office of Migrant Education, U.S. Department of Education. Instruction and other assistance is provided to aid adults in completing their GED (Certificate of High School Equivalency) and entering college.
Project BEAM classes are open to anyone over 16 years of age, who themselves (or their spouse or parents) work in temporary or seasonal farm work at the present time or have done so in the past two years.
Qualified students can receive payment for instructional time and assistance with GED testing fees. Project BEAM also provides free books and study materials along with one-on-one tutoring for students.
