Ready, set, go!

If you’ve graduated from high school or earned a GED, you’re ready to begin. Get started with classes now by submitting an application and some additional information.

What additional information will I need to submit?

So you've decided you would like to apply for admission but aren't sure what additional information you need to provide to complete the admissions process. We've provided a list of common admission types below with a list of items you'll need to provide. If your ACT scores are below 19 in Math, 18 in English, or below 20 in Reading, you’ll need to take the COMPASS test. COMPASS is free for first-time takers and is administered by our Assessment Center.

First-Time Student

If you are a student who has never attended another college and has earned a high school diploma or earned a GED, you’ll need to provide:

• Your high school transcript or GED certificate.
• Scores from a placement test such as the ACT or COMPASS.

Transfer Student

If you are a student who has attended another college but do not plan to return to that college, you'll need to provide:

• Your high school transcript or GED certificate.
• Your official transcript(s) from the colleges you have previously attended (send regardless if you earned credit or not).
• Scores from a placement test such as the ACT or COMPASS.

Transient (Visiting) Student

If you are a student who would like to take classes with Somerset Community College but are currently attending another college to earn a degree, you'll need to provide:

• A letter of good standing from your home college each semester.
• Scores from a placement test such as the ACT or COMPASS if taking Math or English.
• Your unofficial transcript(s) from any colleges you have previously attended (as needed) to show proof of prerequisites.

High School Student

If you are currently in high school and would like to enroll in college courses, each semester you'll need to provide:

• A statement signed by a counselor from your high school and your parent or guardian giving you permission to take courses.
• Scores from a placement test such as the ACT or COMPASS.
• Your current high school transcript.

Readmit

Any student that has previously attended SCC or any other KCTCS institution will need to provide:

• Application for admission.
• Transcripts from all other colleges attended.

Non-Degree Student

A student that is not seeking a degree will need to provide:

• Application for Admission.
• COMPASS or ACT scores if taking Math or English.

Non-degree students are not eligible for financial aid.

Are there other requirements?

If you want to enter a selective program such as an Allied Health Program, you may have a few more special requirements. For more information, contact the Program Coordinator.
