Education (Teacher Preparation)

The Education Program is a 61 credit-hour program designed for students interested in preparing to become a teacher.
 
Both theory and practice are emphasized by the program. A field experience assignment is conducted in each education course that is offered.

What can I do with this degree?

Graduates of the Teacher Preparation program may transfer into a bachelor’s degree program or apply for jobs such as teacher aide, teacher assistant, instructional assistant, duty supervisor, classroom support staff, paraprofessional, education assistant, or assistant teacher.

When and How do I get started with this degree?

This program admits students each semester or bi-term:

  1. Complete an application for admission to SCC.
  2. Ensure that your high school diploma or GED records have been submitted to the registrar’s office.
  3. Schedule a COMPASS exam session through the assessment center and/or provide ACT scores.
  4. Submit official transcripts from high school and prior college attendance.
  5. Finally, after being notified of acceptance by the admissions office, schedule an appointment with your advisor.

Student Responsibilities

In addition to tuition, students are responsible for transportation to the various clinical sites, professional liability insurance, books, and uniforms. Any student seeking financial assistance should contact the Financial Aid Office.
