Meet Josh

Healthcare studentJosh is a third year medical student at the University of Louisville, completing his clinical rotations and serving as a member of the admissions committee for the Medical School. He was president of his first year U of L medical class.

In 2002-2003, while working more than 20 hours per week, Josh was a student at both Wayne County High School and Somerset Community College. He was president of the WCHS chapter of the National Honor society, and also completed a freshman year of studies at Somerset Community College.

"I was better prepared than my peers to enter a university because of my enrollment as a high school junior at SCC," Josh said. "SCC gave me a strong academic foundation."

He transferred to the University of Louisville as a pre-med student majoring in chemistry. As an undergraduate, Josh served on the University Senate for two years and then as president of the College of Arts and Sciences. The past two summers Josh was an intern at Merck Pharmaceutical Company in New Jersey.

He graduated from U of L with honors in 2007, and was named the student in his class who was outstanding for providing community service to the greater Louisville metro community. Josh served as a mentor and tutor to elementary school students from disadvantaged backgrounds, was active in community cleanup campaigns, and chaired a campaign to stock food banks.

Josh was named the nation’s “True Gentleman” by Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. This award included a $10,000 scholarship.
