Meet Jennifer

 

How long I’ve worked here: Since 2008.

Why I do what I do: Teaching Cosmetology allows me the opportunity to combine my love of the cosmetology industry, and fulfills my dream of teaching. I get such joy out of educating students, enriching their lives, and helping them fulfill their dreams.

My teaching philosophy: My goal as a teacher is to instill a passion for learning within my students while providing them with an educational environment that is encouraging and positive. I hope to provide the skills and tools necessary for success and foster the individual talent of each student giving them the confidence to embrace their dreams making them realities. As I mentor my students I hope they can look back on their time with me and remember my passion for the industry as well as being a teacher who genuinely cares for their professional growth and well being.

I like our students because: I like the diversity of our students! I returned to college later in life so as a former student I can identify with both the traditional and nontraditional student. I tell my students that I learn something from them every day, and I feel there is a good balance within my classroom and students have a wonderful opportunity to learn from one another.
   

A little more about me: I have worked in the Cosmetology industry since 1999, and truly love it!! I was the co-owner of A Hairy Business in Monticello for nine years, have been teaching since 2008, I chair Somerset cosmetology SKILLS USA, and I am the project director for the AAWCC. I love 80’s movies, all types of music, and I love …to collect antiques. I am blessed to say that I am the Mother of three beautiful little girls Mia (6) and Harper & Harlow (9 months).
