Versailles, Ky. (December 6, 2013) - The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) Board of Regents, during its quarterly meeting today, established a committee to select a presidential search consultant to assist in the selection of the KCTCS President. Current and founding KCTCS President Michael B. McCall announced in November his plan to retire January 15, 2015.
“While we are truly saddened by President McCall’s announcement to retire, it is our responsibility to select a successor who will continue to build on the strong foundation he has created during his 15 years with the organization,” said KCTCS Board of Regents Chair P. G. Peeples. “It is important that we design a process that will ensure the selection of an individual who will assist us in continuing on our strategic course of being the nation’s premier community and technical college system.”
McCall will remain as president until a successor is named and in place to ensure a smooth transition between the current and future administrations. Once a consultant has been identified, a process and timeline for the presidential search will be developed.
In addition, the board received positive results from the organization’s annual independent financial audit for fiscal year 2012-13. The opinion issued by Dean Dorton Allen Ford, PSC was an “unqualified opinion,” the highest opinion offered by public accounting firms. KCTCS has received an unqualified opinion every year since its inception in 1998.
“We are extremely pleased with the outcome of this audit,” said Peeples. “It clearly demonstrates KCTCS’ commitment to strong stewardship and fiscal responsibility, which is key to accomplishing our role in transforming the state’s economy by providing a pathway to higher education for a majority of Kentuckians.”
