FOURTH ANNUAL FARM AND FAMILY NIGHT AT MCTC

Maysville Community and Technical College (MCTC) Workforce Solutions, in conjunction with local UK Cooperative Extension and Ohio State University Extension Offices, invites all families to a free evening of education and fun for all ages.  Farm and Family Night will be held Tuesday, March 12, from 6:00 – 8:45 p.m. on the Maysville Campus of MCTC.  Farm Credit Services of Mid-America is the title sponsor for the event.

Warren Beeler, accomplished agriculture leader with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture will begin the evening’s events. Beeler’s achievements in agriculture are numerous and diverse. He is a former president of the Kentucky Pork Producers Association and a Hall of Fame member, WKU agriculture alumnus of the year, Middle Tennessee State University Animal Science Hall of Fame member, Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association Service Award winner, and Kentucky FFA Distinguished Service Award recipient. Regarded as the most experienced livestock judge in the country, Beeler has judged livestock shows for 35 years in 42 states. He continues to manage his family farm in Caneyville with his wife, Dee Dee, and their five children.

Dr. Don Breece, Assistant Director, Agriculture and Natural Resources with Ohio State University Extension will also keynote the event.  Dr. Breece has over 28 years of experience in the Extension.  Both of these speakers will focus on Advocating for Agriculture. 

Participants will get to choose from over 35 concurrent sessions on farm and home including cattle management, forage, grain, bee keeping, technology, healthy cooking, horticulture and more.  Youth-focused sessions such as Quiz Bowls, Zumbatonics, Robotics in Farming, and Healthy Snacks will also be featured.  Dinner and registration begin at 5:00 p.m.  “Parent and Me” classes will be offered for children 2 – 4 years of age.

A hearty “Farmhouse Breakfast” will be provided for dinner from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  Due to limited seating participants need a ticket for dinner.  Tickets may be picked up at the Mason, Lewis, Robertson, and Fleming County Extension Offices in Kentucky, or the Adams, Brown and Highland County Extension Offices in Ohio. Tickets are also available at the Maysville Campus of MCTC located at 1755 US Hwy 68 in Maysville.  Attendees can also register for an iPad drawing and many other door prizes.
