Versailles, Ky. (December 10, 2012) - The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) Foundation is partnering with PNC Foundation to establish the PNC Skilled Workforce Investment Scholarship program. The one-time $120,000 scholarship will be divided among seven KCTCS colleges in PNC’s Kentucky market areas.
“I applaud PNC for making an investment in Kentucky’s future by providing opportunities for citizens to achieve the education they need to succeed in today’s workforce,” said KCTCS President Michael B. McCall. “Partnerships between higher education and the business community are key to our state’s future economic prosperity.”
Students enrolled in high wage, high demand workforce development programs/or who plan to transfer to a Kentucky four- year institution will be considered for the scholarships. Preference will be given to applicants from low-income households, and also to applicants in the Louisville and Lexington market areas aspiring to high-quality jobs in advanced manufacturing.
“A business cannot succeed if its communities are not well positioned for future growth and success,” said John L. Gohmann, PNC Regional President, Lexington/Central Kentucky. “Our goal with this scholarship is to further the development of Kentucky’s workforce and ensure the long-term vitality of the communities in which we serve.”
The scholarship funds will be awarded during 2013, 2014 and 2015, and be distributed by the KCTCS Foundation among the following colleges:
