MCTC Astronomical Observation

Mar 12, 2016 | 08:00 PM - 10:00 PM | Maysville Campus - Parking Lot A

The Mathematics and Natural Science Division will be hosting an astronomical observation, with telescopes, of the Moon, visible planets, and other space objects on Saturday, March 12th, from 8:00PM - 10:00PM, weather permitting. The observation will take place in Parking Lot A, just off the US 68 entrance on the Maysville Campus. Telescopes and binoculars will be available. If you have a telescope, feel free to bring it. Please dress for the weather. Contact Scott Miller or ext. 66136 M-F, 8AM to 4PM, for details.

There is lots to see in the night sky, some of which you can see with just your eyes if you know when and where to look. Some of these would include:

  • planets
  • nebula
  • a galaxy
  • an occasional shooting star

And, of course, there are the constellations, whose constant march across the sky changes a bit to mark the passage of the seasons.

A few of these are also enhanced using a telescope, one that can gather more light than your eyes and magnify it for your enjoyment. All of this is available at these monthly observations.
