Admissions FAQs

How do I make a change in my schedule?

Get a drop/add slip from the Admissions Office. Take the drop/add slip to your advisor and have your advisor to help you fill out the drop/add slip and sign it. Bring the drop/add slip back to the Admissions Office to be processed. (REMEMBER: Check the important date sheet; during the middle of each semester you must get your instructor to approve your drop!)

How do I change my major?

Get a change of major card from the Admissions Office. Take the change of major card to your advisor and obtain your advisor’s signature and determine the new major that you wish to pursue. Return the change of major card to the Counseling Center for processing.

How do I change my advisor?

Get a change of advisor card from the Admissions Office. Take the card to your current advisor to obtain your advisor’s signature. Then take the card to your new advisor and obtain your new advisor’s signature. Return the change of advisor card to the Counseling Center for processing.

How do I change my personal information?

Name – Come to the Records Department and get a change of information form. In order to change your name, you must have legal documentation and a copy of your new driver’s license or social security card. Return the change of information form to the Admissions Office to be processed.

Address & Telephone – Come to the Records Department and get a change of information form. In order to change your address you must fill out the change of information form and return to the Admissions Office to be processed.

How do I request a transcript?

To request a transcript you may come to your local Admissions Office, order a transcript online or download the Request for Transcript Form. You must include your name, social security number, approximately the year in which you attended and where you need the transcript to be mailed. Below are the fees for sending the transcript:

  • $5.00 if you want the transcript to be mailed
  • $7.00 if you want to pick up the transcript (unofficial)
  • $10.00 if you want the transcript to be faxed (unofficial)

How do I re-apply for admission?

If you have previously attended Somerset Community College and have been out for one or more semesters, a new application must be submitted to your local Admissions Office. 

Fill out a KCTCS online application. (Free) NOTE: Use browsers Mozilla Firefox or Chrome for best results.

How do I apply for graduation?

Visit the Apply for Graduation page of this website. You should take your application for graduation to your advisor and together verify the courses necessary for graduation. You and your advisor will need to sign the application, and you must complete an exit survey and WorkKeys Assessment. The WorkKeys Assessment should be completed for all degrees and diplomas with the exception of the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees.

How do I access Student Self Service?

Student Self Service is a resource for students provided through PeopleSoft. Once you receive your student ID number, you can create your PeopleSoft account. Please visit the Student Self-Service page of this website for detailed instructions. Due to the FERPA Act there is only certain information that the Admissions office can release.
